Getting Candid About Cameron…

Because Cameron grew up dissecting words as a hobby, she bemoans the fact that public schools no longer teach sentence diagramming. A marketing communications consulting business owner, Cameron’s career has also included work in TV and radio; publishing weekly humor columns for four years; and getting paid to laugh. Her greatest passion is to inspire others by communicating in ways that make them think deeply, question the world around them and laugh heartily.

For the past four years, Cameron’s fiction writing has been taking place in four-week intervals (one night a month) in the late-night hours when she finds herself most inspired. To keep her fiction writing skills fresh, she writes occasional dirty limericks and recipes involving bacon. Her rich allotment of spare time is spent swimming for a US Masters swim team; hanging out with her hubby, three teenage children and dog named Speedo; and GNOs with the BBB gals. One night every month or two, she excitedly moves about 500 words closer to publishing her works-of-fiction-in-progress:

That's Our Cameron!

That’s Our Cameron!

Social Studies: Absurd by intention, Social Studies tells a half dozen seemingly parallel stories each starring its own unique set of characters. As the stories begin to both unweave and interweave, Social Studies proves that fiction can, indeed, be as good as reality. Status: Character sketches and plot map written; eight chapters complete. Please force the author to find more late nights to write this one!

The Focus: An intense Young Adult historical fiction novel set in antebellum (1850s) New England. Status: 66,000 words in the fourth full draft; major overhaul in the thinking stages.

“It is a fair, even-handed, noble adjustment of things that while there is infection in disease and sorrow, there is nothing in the world so irresistibly contagious as laughter and good-humour.” – Charles Dickens, A CHRISTMAS CAROL
